Kirsty Turner, Psychotherapist and Counsellor

Psychotherapy and Counselling in  Derbyshire

Psychotherapy is an opportunity for you to explore your life and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. It can help you connect more deeply with yourself, with others, and find ways to live according to what really matters to you. It can support you to find new perspectives on areas you are struggling with and wanting to change.

You can begin therapy for a variety of different reasons and you may want to work through specific issues or difficulties that may be affecting you. This may involve short-term counselling or a more in-depth psychotherapy process.

I will be able to offer you either an Integrative or Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) approach to our work. I have training and interest in mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion based approaches.

Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling

Integrative psychotherapy draws on understanding from a variety of effective psychological therapy approaches to help bring change. It will help you to explore the patterns from your past and current life that may be causing you difficulty. This process will enable you to improve how you connect with yourself and others, and support you to find a sense of integration to your life. As a relational therapy, our therapeutic relationship will be central to helping to support your growth.

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an approach that helps to make sense of the thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours that make up our difficult experiences. It supports you to use this understanding to begin to respond more helpfully, so that you can move forward in your life. It is particularly recommended for issues connected with anxiety and low mood.

How My Service Works

You can contact me by phone or email to arrange an initial assessment appointment. At this appointment we will look at what you are wanting to work on in therapy and decide the most helpful plan.

If we agree to begin working together, we will decide the approach we will use and develop your therapy goals. We will discuss whether your therapy will be time-limited (short or medium term work), or long-term therapy. We will agree a therapy contract and plan, and review these regularly to help us consider our progress and make any changes needed.

The assessment session is 1 hour long at a cost of £45.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long, on a weekly basis, and cost £45.

Clinical Supervision

I offer clinical supervision for psychotherapists within my private practice on

Mondays & Fridays (9am-3pm).

I use an Integrative approach to supervision, supporting therapists to cultivate

effective therapeutic relationships, facilitate growth, develop professionally,

and practice ethically. I see supervision as an essential element of professional

self-care, and crucial in helping therapists to experience their practice as

enjoyable, fulfilling, and successful. I trained at the Sherwood Institute

(Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision).
