Kirsty Turner, Psychotherapist and Counsellor
Psychotherapy and Counselling in Derbyshire
Psychotherapy is an opportunity for you to explore your life and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. It can help you connect more deeply with yourself, with others, and find ways to live according to what really matters to you. It can support you to find new perspectives on areas you are struggling with and wanting to change.
You can begin therapy for a variety of different reasons and you may want to work through specific issues or difficulties that may be affecting you. This may involve short-term counselling or a more in-depth psychotherapy process.
I will be able to offer you either an Integrative or Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) approach to our work. I have training and interest in mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion based approaches.
Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling
Integrative psychotherapy draws on understanding from a variety of effective psychological therapy approaches to help bring change. It will help you to explore the patterns from your past and current life that may be causing you difficulty. This process will enable you to improve how you connect with yourself and others, and support you to find a sense of integration to your life. As a relational therapy, our therapeutic relationship will be central to helping to support your growth.
Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an approach that helps to make sense of the thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours that make up our difficult experiences. It supports you to use this understanding to begin to respond more helpfully, so that you can move forward in your life. It is particularly recommended for issues connected with anxiety and low mood.
